I remember thinking that this is what romance must feel like for a boy and a girl. Running in the rain, trying to find a dry place to cuddle up and kiss. It was one of the first times in my young life when I realized there was something broken about me, that I would never run while trying to dodge the rain, holding hands with a girl who I loved and who loved me. I never knew what exactly about me was broken, I just knew something was. In spite of that, I have always loved the melody of this song. To me, it’s aspirational. And perhaps it doesn’t have to be a boy and a girl walking hand in hand. I mean, I really do love the rainy days and the way I feel inside. I can still hear the Laughter In The Rain if I try hard enough.
