Like a jarring bolt of lightning one day in 2004 the walls cracked open and a new new-wave sensation broke through called the Killers. It was as if pop culture was finally ready to have good music back on the airwaves again. This new song, Somebody Told Me, was magnificently reminiscent of everything I had ever loved about good, kick-ass new wave hits from the late eighties and early nineties. Think the Alarm, the Cult, New Order, the Psych Furs… This signature song immediately became my go-to karaoke hit. I don’t even care how I sound when I sing it, I just know I must. If there is an open mic, give it to me and let me try and channel Brandon Flowers. I can’t explain how much I love this fucking song, I just do. As with most songs I love, I could close my eyes and listen to it on repeat for hours.
