This song happened onto the world around 2006, just before I met my Woof and during the years that my sister was fighting her greatest battle. I remember pretty clearly a, autumn day in 2007 at the start of my relationship with Chris when we walked through some pretty park on the north shore and he began sharing some very personal stuff with me. I don’t think I could ever have loved a person more than I did in that moment; he was broken but you’d never know it. And as he was going through this, I did my best to be there by his side, all the while burying my sadness over losing my mom that May and constantly being shadowed with a feeling of helplessness over Sis’s health struggle. This song, sung brilliantly by contemporary crooner with no equal Josh Groban, is my song for both of them: my woof and my sister, my two favorite people to have ever impacted my life. It’s my anthem to them, and yet it’s something both of them would sing to me, the one who tries to be strong but is only ever just barely held together by duct tape. I sit here and type away at how I was there for them, but the truth is they were both strong for me. At their lowest, they lifted me up. When I am low, I try try try to remember their struggles and remember that I am loved, on this plane and from the other side.
